Boys from Brighton Blues U12 rugby team - now the U13 squad - formed the guard of honour at Hartpury in Gloucester, as England U18 defeated their Welsh counterparts in the U18 Six Nations Festival last April.
Brighton were invited by the RFU to form the guard of honour, before embarking on their Gloucester tour where the Blues won both their matches against local sides Spartans and Matson.
“It was a very proud moment for the team and incredibly inspirational for them to see boys barely six years older playing for their country,” said head coach Luke Whiffen.
“We are very grateful to Penny Craig of the RFU and Gemma Schofield, mother of England U18 fly-half Tom Curtis, for organising it - not to mention some coaching tips on the day from Gemma’s husband Dean Schofield, the former England and Sale second-row.”
The Gloucester tour capped a fine season for the U12s, who finished top of their Sussex league pool ahead of Chichester, East Grinstead and Crowborough.
