The long awaited match vs Worthing U12s girl, we all knew this was going to be a brilliant battle.
The weather was in our favour and the whole club came together to give the Boas the largest guard of honour seen! The girls ran out to the applause of coaches, parents and every other team at home that day, it was awe inspiring.
Straight off, Worthing hit hard gaining ground with most of the first 10 minutes spent close to their try line, but the Boas defence was impeccable, and held their line perfectly, stopping at least 4 attempts from the attacking side. It wasn’t too long before they spotted a gap and broke through, using the opportunity to score the first try. 1 try and the cheers echoed, but it was soon matched with a speedy recovery from Worthing.
The girls never let their heads go down and soon pulled it pack, they fought hard in the rucks against the super strong Worthing girls to gain ground in their half and secure another needed try. At half time, the Boas caught their breath and regained focus from the heavy first half. They came back on with even more fire in their bellies and went straight on the attack, the passing skills were the best they had done all season, and along with their ability to read the game they pressed on to score another 2 tries before Worthing could retaliate.
Every single girl on that pitch, on both teams played fantastic rugby, it was a pleasure to watch. The Boas girls used every tactic they had been practicing, and it showed. An outstanding performance, led to a final score of 7 tries to 3.
In this game there wasn’t ’just one or two’ stand out players, the whole team was incredible, the tries could not of happened without the effort made and fought by every player, well done girls.
The Boas, first ever season ended on a high. A thoroughly deserved win, and the coaches could not be prouder of the team they have become.
The coaches would also like to extend a sincere thanks to everyone at the club for the support shown, and we look forward to the second season and all it will hold for these amazing young, female athletes.
