Brighton Blues U14s put in a commanding performance against Horsham on Sunday, securing a 25-10 victory in an exciting and hard-fought contest.
From the kickoff, Brighton applied early pressure, dominating possession and territory. Their forwards set the tone with strong carries, and it wasn’t long before they powered over the line for the opening try. Horsham responded with determination, testing Brighton’s defense with quick ball movement and aggressive running.
However, Brighton’s tackling was relentless, forcing errors and turnovers. A well-worked move from the backline then saw Brighton’s winger race down the touchline for a brilliant solo try, extending their lead. As the first half progressed, Brighton continued to dictate the pace, adding another score just before halftime after a smart grubber kick was pounced on in the corner. The Blues headed into the break firmly in control.
Horsham came out stronger in the second half, spending time camped inside Brighton’s 22. Their pressure eventually paid off as they crossed for a well-earned try. However, Brighton quickly regained momentum, finding gaps in the Horsham defense and linking up well in attack. A well-taken team try extended their advantage before a final score in the closing stages put the result beyond doubt.
Brighton’s defensive resilience and sharp attacking play proved too much for Horsham, who fought bravely but ultimately fell short. It was a well-earned victory for the Blues, who continue to build momentum this season.
With another strong performance, Brighton Blues U14s will look to carry this form into their next fixture.
